Caz Hoar

I am a registered and accredited Dramatherapist and a member of The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

It is always my intention to offer work that empowers and supports an individual to find connection and expression, in a way that is personal to them. I believe that empowering a person to find their own answers and choices with in the therapy process supports greater well-being and the potential for change.

I have 19 years of experience working as a Dramatherapist. In my early years as a practitioner, I worked extensively with adults with physical and learning disability whose needs ranged from mild to profound. I currently work in a Special School supporting Children and Young People with complex needs. I use story and metaphor, where all sounds and movements are welcomed and enable individuals who are often overlooked the opportunity to express themselves and be witnessed.

For the last 15 years, I have worked as a Dramatherapist based in schools supporting vulnerable children, their families and the professionals around the child this has included working in a Multi-Agency support Team, in conjunction with other professionals providing timely intervention and support to children and their families. I have experience of being a facilitator on a CPD training programme within a multi-agency team, delivering training to both school staff and colleagues.

I have  supported many children, adolescents and families including those who have suffered significant trauma this work has included working with young people through difficult transitions in the care system and I am currently a therapist in a fostering agency. Areas that I have experience in are around; bereavement and loss, supporting children and adults affected by attachment disorders and abuse, systemic trauma, and also the building of resilience and trust.

I am an Environmental Art therapist and facilitate work in nature with nature's cycles and metaphors to support the therapy process. I work in outdoor settings and/or bringing natural materials in the sessions. This work can promote self-regulation, connection to oneself, nature and the strengthening of resilience and empathy. I have experience of working 1 to 1 with adults and children and have co facilitated day group workshops.

I am one of the directors and member of a Creative Arts Therapy Community interest Company, which offers both therapeutic support and well being services to Devon Communities
